Tracking productivity and cost efficiency within the laboratory is an important management tool. Our benchmarking and peer analysis tools are designed to help managers set baselines, develop stretch targets, and understand how they compare to other similar laboratories. Peer groups are chosen based upon laboratory test menu, volume, and complexity. We continually upgrade the peer groupings as many new and different types of laboratories are added to the database.
Our approach to process improvement and workflow optimization is based upon Six Sigma/Lean tools and methods. We create status quo process maps that help demonstrate where non-value added steps occur and provide recommendations for improvement. Our approach is interactive so that we work closely with the laboratory staff in creating the optimal process map. We conduct pilots to test proposed changes so that we are better able to predict results and ensure sustainability.
